We wanted to let you know how this brilliantly simple, free, small change to children’s existing TV viewing habits can drastically improve their reading skills. Here is Stephen Fry to explain the benefits of turning on the subtitles in more detail. www.turnonthesubtitles.org/parents

Welcome to St Edward's C of E Primary School Website

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school website, which I hope will give you a flavour of St. Edward’s and its community.
I have been working St. Edward’s for 22 years and I think that it is a very special place.  We pride ourselves on being a kind, caring and welcoming community with the children at the heart of everything we do.   The staff endeavour to provide a calm and stimulating environment where good behaviour and mutual respect is modelled by everyone and where everyone is valued. We are very proud of our school and are continually striving to make it an even better place where we can learn and grow together.

As a Church of England school, our Christian Values are an important part of life in school and children are taught how these relate to their own lives. We have strong links with St. Martin’s Church and visit the church for services at Harvest, Christmas and Easter.

Everything we do in school is based on our school vision;

St Edward’s – a caring, Christian community with a love of learning where children achieve their potential, are confident in themselves and their abilities and are set on a positive path for life.

Parents and carers are important to us. We believe that children thrive when there is a good relationship between home and school and hope that parents and carers feel welcome to come into school and speak to staff.

I hope you enjoy finding out more about our school by browsing our website. Visits are encouraged and welcomed: we would be delighted to show you around our wonderful school.

Dr. A. Petrie

SIAMS report Update 27 November 2019

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to be able to share with you that we  now have the report from our most recent SIAMs.

 SIAMS is a Statuory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.

I am delighted we have been graded Good in both the overall judgement  and the additional Judgement for the impact of Christian worship.

The report states   'A powerful commitment to the nurture of all pupils and their families lies at the heart of this school community. The school's vision springs from an understanding of God as love and a desire to express that love in making every effort to set each pupil 'on a positive path for life.'

If you would like a hard copy of the report , please call into the school office.
